"There is no such thing as a free lunch"
Though this piece (link via crabwalk) entirely talks about the US - its tax reforms, journalism standards and basic awareness, I would say its a "model (article in this case) that can be replicated" here to fit in perfectly.
- Why we could not care less that we as a middle class are being taxed the most and perhaps are the most scrupulous while paying taxes?
- Why we know Aamir Khan's latest girl friend relationship history but not when the budget will be declared?
- Why we prefer reading 'fluff' instead of critiques of government policies
- Why we dont want to take the pains to initiate a change?
- Has the press absolved itself of all responsibility? How come we were not informed?
No point listing any further.. it just depresses me . And yes I still feel that its only idealists (like the journalist in question) and to some extent optimists who could start the process of change.
