The company I work with, is a typical company, in its set up of us 'resources'. We sit in cubicles backing some, facing some, some bright coloured panels giving the illusion of privacy. Huge expanse of areas (approximately some huge obsecene number of square feet I am told) with restrooms at each end. Of course different for each of the sexes (do I even need to add this?).
Anyways the point being that some months ago, a colleague came to me to get a notice (of sorts) proof read (reviewed if you like the word better). This was to be pasted in the ladies' toilet. We formatted it, gave it bulleted points, made the font large and bold and tried to be very emphatic with underlines too. I, of course, wanted to get creative and use bright colours but that apparently was frowned on.
Printouts were got and pasted strategically in the restrooms so that in that one foot by one and half foot cubicle you just could not miss them. You have no where to look but at these notices and learn them by heart and as we hoped, helped the women to keep the rest rooms cleaner. One hopes right?
But no! A few weeks ago another one (printout again) appeared below the first one, taking up the remaining space on that only somewhat free surface. Same thing. It intrigued me. Some thing more about pick up, throw, dont litter etc etc... yaddah yaddah. The restrooms round the clock cleaning service and despite that we, liberated women of today, have a tough time keeping bathrooms clean. Its beyond my understanding.. really.
To make matters even more taxing in that tiny room, one small notice has been pasted above the tap where the adminitration asks us to close taps after use! Oh my God! There are people who don't? Who like fllooding these miniscule bathrooms? Would you keep your restrooms this dirty at home? Would you need to be told that please clean, mop, drop in, close and shut down as and when required?
I come out a changed person and regard every woman suspiciously!

We have a solemn little notice pasted just above the basin in our canteen area; it says "No spitting in this region please."
